When eight-year-old Vincenzo Vitale, “Vinny” to everyone who knew him, arrived in the United States with his father Giuseppe, his mother Rosa, and his little sister Antonella, he brought something with him that no suitcase could hold: the smell of his family’s sauces simmering on a Sunday morning.
Growing up surrounded by the warmth of a family restaurant, Vinny didn’t just learn how to cook. He learned what food is really for. It’s not about recipes. It’s about the moment someone takes that first bite and closes their eyes. It’s about the laughter around the table, the familiar aroma that hits you at the door, and the feeling that someone put real love into what’s on your plate.
From a young age, Vinny understood that great food isn’t just nourishment. It’s a way of bringing people together, of making strangers feel like regulars and regulars feel like family. That idea never left him.
In 1998, Vinny took those cherished family secrets, added a few bold twists of his own, and opened the very first Vinny’s. The neighborhood didn’t just like it. They loved it from day one. Word spread quickly, not through ads or campaigns, but the old-fashioned way: one satisfied customer telling another.
Over the years, Vinny’s grew carefully and intentionally. Today, with sixteen locations across Virginia and North Carolina, the heart of what we do has never changed. Every single day we prepare our dough and sauces fresh, hand-pick our ingredients, and bring the same fast, friendly energy that has defined us since the very beginning.
